Connecting With My Spirit

imageThis morning I was walking in the rain and found myself in a playful, joyful mood. In that moment it was like being a kid again. I stepped in a puddle on purpose and laughed about it afterwards. When was the last time you had a playful moment in the rain? That brief moment I spent playing in the rain allowed me to connect to my Spirit. I allowed the rain to wash away my cares and thoughts of the impending day. It was a treat to just be in the moment.

The rain reminded me about connecting to my Spirit. I began to think of the many ways that allow me to connect to my Spirit. One of the easiest ways for me to get out of myself is to connect with a baby. Babies instinctually live in the now. They remind us how fragile life is and how important it is to live in the moment. You ever been around a baby when they need to eat or have their diaper changed? They ask for what they want when they want it. They don’t wait around for adults to get ready. If they don’t get what they want they won’t stop asking, they’ll scream louder until they get attention. Have you seen a child at play? They appear as though they haven’t a care in the world. The only moment that exists is the one they are currently in. We adults could take a few lessons from babies.

Another way I connect with my spirit is through animals. Animals show up in the world consistently the same. I have never come home from work to find my little doggie with an attitude. Now, I found many people to have attitudes, but not my dog. He consistently shows up in the world with unconditional love. He is loyal, and is always ready to show me love. He lets me know he is happy to see me by wagging his tail uncontrollably. He loves me more than I love myself sometimes. He loves hanging out with me. Even if we are just sitting in each other’s space and doing nothing. He is just happy to be with me. I could learn a thing or two from him. Such as, I could consistently smile at everyone I encounter during my day, I could be happy to just be in the moment with others, and I could show up with joy and non-judgment each and everyday. Wow, what lessons we could take from dogs.

When I walk in nature, I’m instantly tapped into my Spirit. There is something about walking among the trees or alongside a river bank; I lose myself near water. Water is so cleansing. I like listening to birds chirping. Birds seem so happy. They are busy preparing and sharing. What a concept to be able to whistle while you work. I think I heard that saying somewhere before…lol. When I am stressed out, wounded or up tight, I take a walk and use this time of connection with nature to begin enjoying the simple things again; especially nature and God’s creations. Have you ever just looked at the blue sky, green grass or watched the ocean waves rolling in and out? I can feel my body relaxing right now. Nature surly has a way of connecting us to our Spirit.

What about when you are doing something you are passionate about. One of my passions is gardening. I love my succulent plants. When I have my hands in dirt I connect to a place of peace and inner joy. Gardening is like meditation to me. I get in rhythm with the plants, the dirt, and with nature. It is so sweet and tender. What are you passionate about? What can you connect with that takes you to that place of Spirt?

There are endless benefits that I can receive by being in tune with my spirit. I can always connect to spirit. I can begin my changing my attitude. I can change my attitude just like I change my clothing. I can choose which attitude I put on everyday. I can also make a physical change through diet and exercise. Food can truly get in the way of me connecting to my Spirit. When there is less junk-food in my body it is no mystery that I function better. I have to remember the body is the dwelling place for my spirit, in a sense my spirit will have more room to breathe and to think clearly; ultimately making my connection to Spirit a little easier. How are you connecting to your Spirit today?

Life Is Yummy!!!

imageWhen was the last time you took a bite out of life? I don’t mean bite in a bad way, in a good way. It feels just like when you take a bite out of a sweet juicy Georgia peach. You know the kind, it is so sweet and so good that it tickles your stomach and makes your eyes roll around in your head from all that goodness. Well, that’s how I woke up today, with such a delicious gratitude for the sweetness of life. I began my morning meditation, after I was done I began to cry. These were not sad tears but tears of joy. Joy was running through my veins today and I was vibrating on high. I am in awe of life and the many opportunities we are all afforded. I am not taking about the man-made opportunities, as they are limited in nature and very subjective depending on who’s making the decisions, I am talking about the Universal opportunity that we all have access to.

Go outside and look at the vastness of the sky and the fullness of the Sun. Look down at your feet and know you are fully supported by Mother Earth. Look around you and you will see all the creative responses from the Universe. The Universe said YES! Just think for a moment about the things you would not see if the creator of this beautiful world believed in the limited thinking of another. If creator believed someone saying that won’t work, you can’t do that, you don’t have enough money for that. We spend too much time questioning everything. We don’t have to know the “how” of getting it done, we just need to know the “what.” The Universe will guide us through anything we set our minds to accomplish. It is not rocket science. Why do we block our creative blessings? We humans do it all the time. No one has to do it for us, we will do it to ourselves.

We live in this amazingly abundant world. We have all these unlimited resources at our finger tips. I find it awesome that depending on my level of creative interaction with the Universal Laws, determines my results. Did you get that folks? You are not limited by what your mom thinks you should do, or your best-friend’s opinion of what is right for you, nor your partner’s selfish view of what comes next in your world. Only you get to decide what your life looks and feels like. Only you can change directions when what you’re currently doing is no longer working. Only you can make you happy. How nifty it that! Did I say nifty? I guess I did. I am just so excited to share my good news. This is liberating news folks! You no longer have to give your power away to another being on this planet. You can just be yourself. See I told ya? Life is yummy.
